I don't claim to be an expert, but i do have experienced input on the matter. Against-the-grain ideas are a way of progress for any medium, a good older friend of mine helped test and develop a great "against-the-grain" idea, it was aluminum crank and main bearings. I do like the setup, i do not like the setup on a vehicle of someones' that is not fully aware of the precautions and consequences. Nobody said - "hey man, that isn't a great idea", but people did say - "Don't follow this example" - "sounds like a recipe for disaster to me..." - "I found this idea....um IDK interestingly ignorant." - "...pull the legs out from under ourselves..." - "Follow this foolishness at you own peril." - and on and on, I would say some of those are a little insulting don't you?
